Labor Day Weekend of Discovery at the Creation Museum
Stargazing, Microscopic Discoveries, and Reptiles highlight a weekend’s worth of activities.
We’re planning an exciting holiday weekend for your family at the Creation Museum. In addition to our daily Speaker Series, there’s a plethora of presentations and workshops all weekend long. For a complete listing of programs and activities, visit our online Events Calendar.
Weekend highlights include…
Friday, August 29: “Science Behind the Museum”
We begin Labor Day weekend on Friday night with our “Science Behind the Museum” lineup of speakers from Answers in Genesis.
6 PM: Dr. Georgia Purdom will give her presentation, “Code of Life: DNA, Information, and Mutation.” Come listen as Dr. Purdom explores the fascinating world of DNA, clearly showing that “junk” DNA isn’t junk, and that mutations and natural selection are headed in the wrong direction, corrupting and decreasing information in DNA, and making evolution impossible. This event is free with your paid museum admission or membership.
6 PM: Adventurers! Join Buddy Davis, Ark explorer, and hear the exciting story of his Search for Noah’s Ark on Mt. Ararat. You will also learn facts about Noah’s Ark according to God’s Word and find answers to questions like: How big was Noah’s Ark? What did the Ark really look like? What is gopher wood? Was there enough room for all of the animals on the Ark? Were dinosaurs on the Ark? How did they fit? Learn the answers to these and many more questions about the most famous ship the world has ever known, Noah’s Ark. In this one hour workshop, you will have fun sculpting a Parasaurolophus dinosaur head with museum dinosaur sculptor, Buddy Davis. Through music, learn about the fossil record and see if you can guess some of the animal sounds Noah may have heard on the Ark. Come join the adventure, in The Search for Noah’s Ark!
7:30 PM: Dr. David Menton presents “Life in a Drop of Jungle.” Have you ever been on a jungle safari? Have you seen strange and wild plants and animals up so close it feels like you’re exploring an incredible new land? With our new microscope we will discover that a single drop of water from the Creation Museum pond is simply teeming with rapidly swimming life. Some of these creatures are frankly a bit scary. Visitors to the Museum, both young and old, will thrill to a 50 minute safari through a “drop of jungle” bravely led by our guide Dr. David Menton. Workshop admission is $4.
7:30 PM Carl Kerby will give his presentation, “What is the Best Evidence that God Created?” Audiences nationwide have been thrilled with this colorful, eye-catching presentation on some of the most astounding evidences of God’s handiwork. The talk builds to an unforgettable conclusion: the life-changing truth that the best evidence is God’s Word itself!
7:30 PM Stargazer Night with Dr. Jason Lisle. The evening begins at 7:30 PM with AiG Astrophysicist, Dr. Jason Lisle giving a devotion, and includes a planetarium show (Worlds of Creation) and a private outside telescope viewing with Dr. Lisle and his assistants. You can view open star clusters, globular star clusters, nebulae (including the Ring Nebula), and double stars through our three telescopes - the new telescope is a Newtonian style, a great addition to our other two which are Schmidt-Cassegrains. This means that planets, especially Saturn and it’s rings, will look especially clear in the new scope. The evening will conclude around 10:15pm. This event will be held rain or shine. In case of bad weather, Dr. Jason Lisle will take you on an exciting journey of the current night sky on our indoor Planetarium screen Domed ceiling. A one-of-a-kind presentation that you will thoroughly enjoy! Cost for this event is $24.95 per person ($19.95 for members) and is limited to 78 people. To register, please call 888-582-4253 option 4 or call (800) 778-3390.
Saturday, August 30, and Monday, September 1: “Snakes Alive!” at 11 AM; 12, 1, 3, 4, and 5 PM
Join Rick Teepen, herpetologist, with the ever popular “Snakes Alive!” workshop (a look at reptiles from God’s perspective). What words come to mind when you imagine a snake? Slimy? Slithery? Dangerous? Perhaps you have seen a snake in your own backyard and either ran away in fear or leaned in for a closer look, but most of us have never encountered one, let alone touched one. That can change when you visit the Creation Museum to see Snakes Alive! With six snakes, a bearded dragon, and a wealth of knowledge to share with parents and children alike, Mr. Teepen reminds all of us that even snakes were created by God. And just what is a bearded dragon? you may ask. Come to the Creation Museum and find out!

Yesterday the Creation Museum had the opportunity to be the title sponsor of Faith Day at a Cincinnati Reds baseball game. Faith Day is an outreach to area churches.
Over 37,000 baseball fans attended the game featuring the Reds and National League Central rival St. Louis Cardinals. Before and during the game, we set up a booth in the FanZone. Creation Museum staff members and volunteers handed out tracts from Answers in Genesis.
Countless faces were painted and balloon animals were made for kids in attendance. Many thanks go out to Rachel, Carla, Ronda, and Kristen for braving the heat and doing an excellent job!
Before the game, Creation Museum Vice President (and AiG co-founder), Mike Zovath threw the first pitch to our Chief Communications Officer (and co-founder), Mark Looy. Mike’s pitch was a dead-on strike (if you saw it from the right angle). Mark did a fantastic job as Mike’s backdrop.
After the game, fans heard testimonies from Reds players, Bill Bray and Jeremy Affeldt. After the testimonies the band Mercy Me performed. One of the most moving portions of the concert occurred when the band invited the audience to sing “Amazing Grace” in unison.
Following the concert, each audience member received a Creation Museum wristband and brochure.
We are thankful to God that we were able to take part in such a great outreach to our community.
Last week, we had the opportunity to have a booth at the Boone County Fair. The fair was just a few miles from the Creation Museum and we were able to speak to many people who have yet to visit.
Attendance continues to be strong at the museum and there are many great new things to experience - the petting zoo, daily speaker series, and new dining venues just to name a few.
Our artists are also working diligently on a new dragon that will soon make his home in our Dragon Hall Bookstore. Here are some photos of the imposing creature ‘under construction’.
We look forward to welcoming you soon at the Creation Museum!
The new Creation Museum Souvenir Guide is now available for sale on our website. The Souvenir Guide is a semi-annual “program” that gives an “insider’s look” at the one-of-a-kind Creation Museum. Read about the contrasts in the exhibits, the 7 C’s of History, and find some of the symbolic elements of the museum from an artist’s perspective. The guide also features a fold-out map of the museum’s gardens and trails, as well as the inside of the Creation Museum.
Looking for things to do and places to stay when visiting the Creation Museum? The Souvenir Guide features ads from our preferred area hotels as well as a map of the Greater Cincinnati area.
